Listen to Obituary
William S. "Willy" Glisczinski, 91, of Park Ridge, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston. He was born on Nov. 6, 1920, in Custer, to the late David and Teckla (Yach) Glisczinski and he attended local schools.

He worked on the family farm for a few years before beginning work at Regina Pliska Potato Farms for 19 years and then Vetter's Manufacturing for 40 years.

People in Stevens Point and Plover may know Willy more as the "Can Man," as he was well known as the guy on the three-wheel bicycle who traveled an average of five to 10 miles a day collecting aluminum cans from a number of places, especially local ball parks. Since retiring from Vetter's, his goal has been to see how many cans he could collect in a day. He was also an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his sister, Grace Shaw; nephews and nieces, Ray (Ramona) Biadasz, Chester Biadasz, Irene (Ray) Richter, Stanley (Clara Feltz) Lepak, Lorraine (Louis) Chojnacki, Esther (Joe) Severa, Gary (Jen) Wojtalewicz and Rita Lepak.

In addition to his parents, Willy was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 (his birthday), at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Thomas Lindner officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, Stevens Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.
